2026-09-29 20:20:00

The SU7 Ultra is Xiaomi EV's flagship high-performance all-electric four-door coupé launched in February 2025 as the range-topping model in the SU7 lineup. Powered by a tri-motor powertrain pushing 1,548 hp, a 0-100 km/h sprint in 1.98 seconds, and a top speed of up to 350 km/h, it redefines the performance benchmark for series-production four-door vehicles, carrying a launch price of RM529,900.

Model Overview

Positioned as an executive (C-segment) high-performance all-electric four-door coupé under Xiaomi EV, it spearheads the brand's push upmarket. Key selling points include a tri-motor all-wheel-drive (AWD) powertrain (1,548 hp), a 1.98-second century sprint, a 350 km/h top speed, and track-optimised cooling and braking systems. The 2025 model year offers two variants: the 630km AWD Edition and the 555km AWD Edition, both priced at RM529,900 (the range variance is due to tyre fitments). Optional add-ons include the "Racing Package" (RM100,000) and the "Nürburgring Limited Edition" (RM814,900).

Dimension-wise, it measures 5,115 (or 5,070) mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,465 mm in height, riding on a 3,000 mm wheelbase with a kerb weight of 2,360 kg. Boot capacity stands at 454 litres at the rear, supplemented by a 105-litre front boot (frunk).

Full-year deliveries for 2025 totalled around 15,000 units, with monthly sales surpassing 3,000 units in its initial launch phase before normalising in the second half of the year.

Design Language

Visually, the SU7 Ultra adopts an aggressive, track-focused aesthetic. Up front, it features an oversized front splitter, air dams, and U-shaped dive planes (canards), alongside enlarged grille intakes that boost cooling surface area by 10%. In profile, it sports 21-inch U-spoke forged alloy wheels housing carbon-ceramic brake discs with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers. The rear is dominated by a fixed carbon-fibre rear wing (1,560 mm wingspan), with an optional three-stage adjustable carbon-fibre rear spoiler available (RM12,000).

Carbon fibre is deployed extensively across the exterior: a 1.7 m² carbon-fibre roof panel (shaving 11 kg), dual-ducted carbon-fibre bonnet, carbon-fibre wing mirror caps, and 24K gold carbon-fibre badges. Six exterior colour options are offered: Lightning Yellow, Space Silver, Parrot Green, Pearl White, Obsidian Black, and the newly introduced Twilight Rose (RM11,000).

Inside, the cabin features a motorsport-inspired black and yellow two-tone theme, trimmed extensively in Alcantara microfibre upholstery. It gets a bespoke carbon-fibre sports steering wheel with a flat-top and flat-bottom rim, a yellow 12 o'clock centre stripe, and a red BOOST button. The seats gain active side bolsters (with quicker response times and 100% greater bolstering area) adorned with embroidered "Ultra" motifs. Cabin amenities also include dual 50W wireless smartphone chargers, a 4.6-litre smart refrigerator/warmer, and auto-dimming exterior mirrors.

Powertrain and Performance

The SU7 Ultra shares the same tri-motor powertrain as its prototype sibling—featuring two V8s motors and one V6s motor. The front motor develops 288 kW (500 Nm), while the dual rear motors put out a combined 850 kW (1,270 Nm), delivering a total system output of 1,138 kW (1,548 hp) and 1,770 Nm of torque. The electric motors spin up to a redline of 27,200 rpm.

The century sprint from 0-100 km/h takes just 1.98 seconds (excluding rollout), with 0-200 km/h dealt with in 5.86 seconds, the quarter-mile (0-400 m) completed in 9.23 seconds, and a top speed rated at 350 km/h.

Battery duties are handled by the global debut of CATL's Qilin II Track Edition high-rate battery pack with a capacity of 93.7 kWh. It delivers a maximum discharge rate of 16C (peaking at 1,330 kW), and even at 20% state of charge (SoC), discharge power remains potent at 800 kW. CLTC-rated all-electric range figures are 630 km (with 265 front / 305 rear R21 tyres) and 555 km (with wider 325/30 R21 rear rubber).

On the charging front, it supports up to 5.2C charging rates and a maximum DC fast charging capacity of 480 kW, taking just 11 minutes to juice up from 10% to 80% SoC.

Chassis and Handling

Suspension hardware consists of a front double-wishbone and rear five-link independent setup, fitted as standard with closed dual-chamber air suspension and CDC (Continuous Damping Control) adaptive dampers. Track enthusiasts can opt for Bilstein EVO T1 coilovers offering 10-way manual damping adjustment.

Stopping power comes courtesy of a track-spec setup: massive carbon-ceramic brake discs (420 × 40 mm front / 380 × 28 mm rear) clamped by Akebono six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, working alongside regenerative braking capable of up to 0.6g deceleration. Braking from 100-0 km/h is achieved in 30.8 metres. Tyre fitments measure 265/35 R21 at the front, paired with either 305/30 R21 or 325/30 R21 rubber at the rear depending on the variant.

Cabin and Equipment

The cockpit runs on the Xiaomi HyperOS digital architecture, anchored by a 16.1-inch 3K infotainment touchscreen powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chipset, an expansive 56-inch head-up display (HUD), and a 7.1-inch flip-style digital instrument panel, supporting five-screen interaction. The sound system has been upgraded to a 25-speaker setup with active noise cancellation (ANC).

The proprietary Track Master app is an exclusive feature, pre-loaded with track layouts and lap timing leaderboards for 20 premier circuits nationwide. It provides real-time lap telemetry, vehicle health stats, and drive mode tuning, complete with post-session visual data logs and best-lap video sharing. It also includes three synthetic engine sound profiles piped externally via a 40W rear-mounted speaker.

On the active safety and driver assistance front, Xiaomi HAD Intelligent Driving comes standard, driven by dual NVIDIA Drive Orin-X processors offering 508 TOPS of computing power. The suite supports City Navigation on Autopilot (NOA), Highway NOA, Automated Valet Parking (AVP), and other functions.

Market Performance and Evaluation

The SU7 Ultra enjoyed a strong reception at launch, racking up over 6,900 firm orders within the first 10 minutes. Monthly deliveries peaked at 3,101 units in March 2025 and held steady between 2,000 and 3,000 units from March through August. However, volume tapered off significantly from September onward—registering 488 units in September, 130 in October, sub-100 in November, and just 45 units in December. By the end of 2025, cumulative deliveries stood at around 15,000 units, and the dedicated "Ultra Master" retail team had been disbanded.

Analysis of Sales Trajectory: High-performance four-door coupés remain a niche segment, with an annual domestic volume of around 50,000 units; the initial sales spike represented pent-up demand from early-adopting performance enthusiasts, after which orders naturally plateaued. Moreover, mainstream buyers questioned the day-to-day usability of such ferocious acceleration, while seasoned track regulars still gravitated toward established heritage marques; that said, when benchmarked against traditional combustion benchmarks like the BMW M3 and M4 over the same timeframe, the Ultra's volume was still a respectable showing in its category.

Officially, Xiaomi positions the SU7 Ultra as a technological halo car whose strategic value transcends pure unit profitability—building brand credibility through hard technical accolades like Nürburgring lap times, thereby haloing down to boost buyer confidence and emotional appeal for mainstream volume sellers like the SU7 and upcoming YU7.
